MY QUALIFICATIONS

Professional and Volunteer Work

Qualifications: Resume

September 2011 - July 2013

MERRIST WOOD COLLEGE

Completed a Level 3 Diploma/A-level equiv in Animal Management with Merit-Merit-Distinction.

Subjects of interest were Zoology, Conservation, Welfare and Breed Development and Avian Care.

This also included both practical and non-practical work. I spent Monday mornings either chasing around some Turkeys on the farm, cleaning out snakes in the Reptile room, cleaning up old food in the aviaries and mews blocks or being dragged around the back garden with the teachers' dogs.

We went on a few trips, our first one was to Crufts in Birmingham which was amazing and I was able to get up close to my favourite breeds! We also visited an Aberdeen Angus farm which was not my idea of fun, but was a major part of my studies in the meat-trade and farming industry.

2011-2013

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Clandon Livery:

Spent three weeks caring for horses of all shapes and sizes. Main jobs was basic husbandry such as feeding, cleaning and exercising.

  • 2x2 Pet Care

Spent a week working at a pet shop in Worplesdon. Main jobs involved weighing treats and bird feed and speaking to customers.

  • Chessington World of Adventures Zoo

Spent a month working with an array of species including Tigers, Ungulates, King Vultures, Persian Leopards and Marsupials. Daily tasks included prepping food, cleaning enclosures and making enrichment for the animals!

July 2013 - August 2022

PETS CORNER

Began working at Pets Corner in 2013 as a Part-time sales advisor in West Horsley, I eventually moved to full-time and earned my own set of keys which opened up a new set of responsibilities and challenges. In 2019, I was moved and promoted to the Guildford branch were I'd be an Assistant Manager and six months later, promoted to Store Manager were I remained until my leaving date in August 2022.

My main job was to provide excellent nutritional advice to customers, we were expected to go on training 4-6 times a year; I loved learning about nutrition and the shocking reality of the best, well-known brands and their dark secrets. I ran a small team of 8, making lifelong friends, two of my closest friends becoming clients of ours when we first started!

February 2023 -

CURRENT COURSES

I am currently working on two online courses for a Diploma in Animal First Aid - which I've done before but need a refresher, and also Canine Behaviour with positive reinforcement. I already have a Diploma in Cat Psychology and Behaviour but this was more so for my own personal gain with my cats.

Dillon also plans to do an in-person grooming course either at Merrist Wood or an online course!
